A held power-up should look like something the ball is wearing, not more of the ball. Burst used to glow orange, which on an orange player all but vanished, and Frostbite and Wall Shift were two near-identical whites. Now each one is its own neon: Nitro is neon green, Burst neon red, Live Wire electric yellow, Frostbite electric ice, Gravity Well stays violet, and Wall Shift is hot pink.
Live Wire's yellow also ends a mix-up with Brace's deflect ring, which is pink. Both rings say "don't touch", but one pops you and the other only bounces you off, and the two used to be shades of the same colour.
The pickups on the floor, the HUD and the scoreboard all use the new colours too, so the thing you grab and the thing you're wearing still match. A frozen player's chill ring now matches Frostbite's ice.
