Fakeout is a free browser game: two teams of four steer balls around a top-down map, each side trying to steal the other's flag and carry it home. Movement runs on real momentum instead of a fixed walking speed — you accelerate, coast, bounce off walls, and have to brake on purpose to stop. There's no download and no account required. Open the page, hit Play, and you're in a match.
Where it comes from
Fakeout's movement model descends from an earlier project that calibrated a TagPro-style physics engine against real recorded matches — per-axis acceleration, drag, speed caps, and bounce behavior measured from actual gameplay rather than guessed. TagPro is the classic browser capture-the-flag game that shape traces back to. Fakeout's own systems — the game modes, the maps, the kit — are new, built on top of that measured foundation without changing it.
Built by one person
Fakeout is a solo project. That means updates come in bursts rather than on a fixed schedule, and it means every decision — the physics, the maps, the moderation rules — was made by one developer trying to build the game they wanted to play. If something's broken or missing, say so.
