Deflect, reworked. Pressing Brace (Shift) braces you for 0.3 seconds: the first enemy to touch you in that window bounces off, and if you're carrying, you keep the flag. Holding Brace still brakes exactly as before. The double-tap is gone, because doing it while also steering was the hard part.
It is rarer, and it only costs you when it works. A deflect that lands goes on a 15-second cooldown. A brace that catches nothing costs a one-second lockout before the next press can brace, so braking for any other reason never burns your deflect, and tapping the key over and over is not a shield.
Bots no longer freeze when you Fakeout. They used to stop dead for a quarter second whenever you fired it near them, which no person does. The space Fakeout buys now comes from the defender's own momentum.
Bots hold a spot like a person. A bot on post or waiting for a regrab used to brake to a dead stop and sit there for seconds at a time. Now it keeps rocking on its feet, ready to move.
The cost, paid once: saved replays recorded before today no longer play back. A recorded brake press now arms a deflect where it used to only brake, so an old recording would replay into a different match.
